G.O. FUN VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE RULES
2011/2012 Season
All team captains must attend a pre league meeting. Rules will be covered and expectations of team captains.
1. Teams have 10 minutes to field a team, before play begins.
2. Minimum of 2 females and 2 males on the court at all times, 6 players constitutes a team. Where less than 5 players are present, games may be played as long as minimum numbers are satisfied. Where less than 5 players present and minimum not satisfied, match can begin with ghost player in anticipation of the required male/female showing up. If the required player does not show up by the end of the 1st game, that game is then forfeited and 1 point is awarded to the opposing team. Repeat for 2nd and 3rd games or until match forfeiture is given by team captain. If both teams are unable to field a full team, neither team will receive any points for the match. Teams are still allowed to use the gym until the hour is over.
3. Any controversial calls WILL result in a reserve. This is a fun recreational league, we are all paying to play and many of us work the next day.
4. One (1) point is given for each game won by a team. Three points are given for a forfeit.
5. The team captains must ensure everyone playing for his/her team has fully completed and understood the Ryatt Waiver form before actual play. The waiver will be in electronic form and must be completed by every member of the league. When the team member completes the waiver and registration their light beside their name will turn GREEN. Players have 30 days to complete this after the league starts.
6. Games are rally-point to 25 points and winner must win by 2 points (no cap). Three games to be played in the 1 hour time slot. All 3 games to be played, even if overtime is needed.
As soon as final game is completed, players are to quickly leave the court so next match can begin.
7. Only 6 players are allowed on the court. If team defaults a match and will be issued a written warning.
After a warning has been issued, each subsequent default will be assessed a $25.00 fine. Gross default (where a team does not show up at all without notifying the league via email 24 hours in advance) will result in an automatic $25.00 fine. Fines are to be paid before next scheduled match. Any games played by the team after fine assessed, will be forfeited until fine is paid.
8. All teams will play unlimited serves per player.
9. Please roll the ball under the net when exchanging (side-outs).
10. Net must be on the setting for coed leagues.
11. Players must be 18 years of age or older to play in the league and are allowed to play for ONLY one (1) team. Free agents (players who do not play for other teams) may be used. Once a free agent has played with the same team 3 times the Free Agent is now part of that team. *Free agents are not permitted to play in playoffs
12. Home teams will provide the volleyball. (Division 1 & 2 are required to use the Mikasa MVA200 ball) In case the home team does not have a suitable volleyball to play with, the visitor will supply the volleyball for the match.
COURTESY RULES -- G.O. FUN VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE
To maintain our good reputation with the School Board and the school, please ensure everyone understands and follows the rules.
1. Games will be played from 6pm until 10pm. Players are to arrive at the gym NO EARLIER than 5:45pm to set up the volleyball net. After the last match, both teams put away the volleyball net, poles and leave the school ASAP.
2. The 2 teams schedule to play in each one hour time slot, have the gym for that entire hour. This means, after match has been completed, these teams can still use the gym until TIME (5 minutes to the hour). This also means players from the next time slot CANNOT be on the court until the teams leave.
NOTE: People must not wander around any part of the school as we have ONLY booked the gym. Players must stay on the podium, ready to play.
3. Only the FRONT DOOR will be open. PLEASE leave any wet and/or muddy boots, shoes, overcoats etc. in the front hall. Only running shoes (NOT WORN OUTSIDE) may be worn on gym floor.
4. NO EATING, DRINKING OR SMOKING IN THE GYM WHATSOEVER. It is the team’s responsibility to ensure none of their members/spectators violate this rule. School has the right to refuse us access to gym after violation.
5. Teams are to provide their own equipment.
The captain of each team is responsible for entering in the results of their match the next
day by 11:00am. Points cannot be awarded if results are not provided to the league.
